How long do the effects of iboga last?

How long iboga works depends on the dose and on set (your inner emotional state) and setting (the external conditions). Sources state that the directly intoxicating effect of ibogaine lasts 24 to 30 hours (tripsit) or 18 to 36 hours (PsychonautWiki). After-effects and the processing of the experience can still occur 24 to 72 hours after intake, in rare cases (5%) even longer.

If ibogaine HCl is taken, the effect lasts somewhat shorter than with root bark. According to reports, however, pure HCl lacks the "honest component", unlike the natural drug with all its alkaloids.

The effect sets in between 30 and 180 minutes after intake. This is often announced by a buzzing in the ears. It is followed by increasingly strong visions and personal images in the mind. After 3 to 5 hours, the waking dreams lose intensity and the self-reflecting, processing phase begins.
